Soldier to Doctor: cut my leg off so I can run marathons

A British soldier shot through the heel by a sniper in Afghanistan asked doctors to cut off his leg - so he can run marathons.

Rifleman Matt Fisher, 26, believes he will be able to move faster when his leg is replaced with a prosthetic limb. 

And before surgery next month he is throwing a "My Left Leg Leaving Party" with army mates.

Brit soldier gets bionic arm

A soldier who lost his arm in a grenade attack in Afghanistan has become the first military amputee to be fitted with a bionic arm.

Corporal Andrew Garthwaite of the Queen's Royal Lancers lost the limb in September in a rocket-propelled grenade attack that killed another soldier.

The 23-year-old was fitted with the device at the Queen Elizabeth and Selly Oak Hospitals in Birmingham.

Brit soldiers survive being shot in head

Miracle of the Scottish soldier friends who were shot in the head in Afghanistan..and survived unscathed.

Two Scottish soldier pals have survived bullets to the head in Afghanistan... just six days apart.

Lance Corporal Tam Rankine, 29, cheated death on a dawn patrol when an enemy round slammed into the side of his helmet.

Less than a week later, his friend, Private John Gibson somehow escaped unscathed when a sniper's bullet went straight through the front of his helmet and out through the back.

That's not the only close call Tam Rankine has had. He survived being shot FIVE TIMES in a single incident in 2008.

Teenage soldier discovers bomb factory in Afghanistan

A teenage British soldier saved the lives of dozens of his comrades when he discovered hidden cache of ten Taliban bombs during a patrol in Helmand.   

Ranger Gavin Edgar, 19, who only joined the Army last year and is on his first operational tour, discovered the improvised explosive devices hidden beneath a large hay bale in the area of Nad e'Ali in central Helmand.
